Dino Details Part II

Before I delve into the goings on of this years party, I must give a little back-ground into last year's...it was a bug party- all things that creep, crawl and fly. That is what Ezra was really into last year. (The year before that was trains- maybe I'll share those pictures at some time....) Here is a picture of his caterpillar cake- making his way through the grass to wish Ezra a happy birthday.

Now, the reason why I 'm showing these isn't for the cake, but what is around the cake. I made everyone attending the party bug hats to wear.

A motley crew were we. (Remember I said that this year was E's first kid party- so yes, it was all adults wearing the hats- I think I'll spare you (and well us) the pictures of everyone sitting around the house in our very festive bug party wear.) Aside from wanting a dinosaur party this year, the only thing Ezra asked me for were more hats. Dinosaur hats. Hmmmmm.

This is what I came up with. Ahh, the faint smell of Girl Scouts or my third grade paper mache map of Alaska. Its been a long time since I've done this. (I added cinnamon to the flour/water mix and it actually didn't smell as bad.)

A little paint and some art foam and tah-dah! Dinosaurs!

The kids chose their own dinosaur to be when they arrived at the house. It was a stampede of T-Rex, Pteranadon's and Triceratops for the next half-hour or so. The only problem with the hats was getting the kids to stand still to take their pictures. (It didn't happen.) Here are the couple that I did get, and they aren't the best quality- but you get the idea, and they look pretty cute.

Erza and his friend Delilah, E is a T-Rex (of course) and Lady D is a Proceratops.

Gus the Pteranadon is waiting for a piece of cake.

Avery was also a Pteranadon.

I had E model some of the other hats before the party as I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get any willing participants the day of...

At least I have a whole year now (to re-cooperate) before next year's party- what kind of party & what kind of hats will we make? I guess that is part of the fun, we'll just have to wait and see.
