P is for Pumpkin(s)

I think I have mentioned it a couple of times before, but if you are new here- I'll say it at least a few more times. I love pumpkins. I can admit- I have a healthy obsession with them. (Healthy obsession.) Pumpkin day is honestly one of my favorite days of the year. Ask me what I want for my anniversary or birthday and I will happily answer: pumpkins. A day at the pumpkin patch with my guys is my idea of a little slice of heaven. This was Ezra's first year getting to lead us through the corn maze- (notice band leader baton in hand) we only got lost 3 times...not bad for a 4 year old.

We took a horse-drawn hayride out to the patch...at first, it is just a sea of corn that engulfs you. Archetypal rural Illinois, no?

Big horseys.

And there it is, just waiting for you to come and explore- the very sincere pumpkin patch that we have been visiting for 12 years now. Here grows a bounty of every size and shaped pumpkin you could wish for- waiting to be picked by you. (Or me....)

Lets just say it didn't take us long to fill up two wagons. Full. Overflowing. I told you I really do have a thing for pumpkins. And I have noticed that in the more recent years I have come to love the misshapen-ed pumpkins even more. I'm not sure why. I have always had a thing for the really long, oval types- and I still do, but I seemed to have found plenty of odd fellows that made their way into the wagon as well. You will just have to wait to see how they get carved out.

I let the boys do all of the heavy pushing and pulling....

And at the end of the day, this is what the back of my car looks like. Mmmmmmm. Pumpkins. I kind of think it looks like its missing something though, don't you? (The hay was for a fall installation for a client...I didn't think the pumpkins would mind a little cushioning....) But missing something, no?

Yes. Twins!

Ah! Now that looks better.

No trust me, it does.

  1. Wow, you guys don't mess around. (I thought we were going a little crazy with 4 this year.) You must have 200 pounds of pumpkins there! Happy carving.
