Wonder(land)ful

Sitting at a stoplight last night after our 1,000,000,000th foray to Target for the week, something caught my eye in the dark winter greys...

Actually this was the picture I saw at the CTA stop...it was leaked all over the Internet last summer, and I was excited then- but to see it in person was even more exciting! Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Lewis Carrol? I'm in!

Clearly, he is the Mad-Hatter. Helena Bonham-Carter is the Red Queen.

Anne Hathaway has been transformed into the White Queen. She looks like a vintage Valentine's Day card.

Matt Lucas is playing Tweedle Dee & Dum.

Lastly Mia Wasikowska is Alice.

The scenery/set decor seems to fulfill my childhood Alice dreams (that Burton's Charlie & the Chocolate Factory left wanting- again for me-I'm a product of the '70's you gotta stay loyal to Gene Wilder, even if I did like Burton's story better, I did not like the sets.)

The amazing cast rounds out with Alan Rickman, Christopher Lee, Stephen Fry and Crispin Glover. A premature kudos to Disney for letting Burton have creative freedom & for re-tackling a project that most people's minds (when associated with Disney) go to spinning around on tea-cups when they were eleven. Don't get me wrong, I love the Alice in Wonderland that Disney made in 1951- it definitely had Caroll's creepiness to it, as did Tom Petty's '80's video homage Don't Come Around Here No More- but I do want more. I hope that this version really does let us go down the rabbit hole.

This Alice opens March 5th- in wacky 3D as well- click here for a preview.
I know I won't be late for this very important date.
