Stock, dahlia, zinnia, gomphrena, ranunculus, lisianthus, and craspedia..oh my! I must admit, I like to call craspedia by its common name- Billy Balls! I think I'll say it again...Billy Balls! Ahhh, I feel better. Maybe you should say it too if you need a release. (Billy Balls!) See what I mean?
Someone recently asked me what my favorite flower is. I think I gave the standard answer for a person who works with flowers- all of them!! I know, it sounds so contrived, but its the truth! I will admit, I have a soft spot in my heart for hydrangea- but I'm not sure that I could call it my favorite. Right now, I could practically eat every dahlia I see. A few even tried to make a getaway (unsuccessfully) with me at the market the other day. (No, I did not try to steal them, they just wanted to come home with me-and sadly, I denied them- and myself...so sad.) Come winter, lush intoxicatingly fragrant greens and big beautiful amaryllis are my favorites. I swoon at the very sight of peonies in the spring. Garden roses stop me in my tracks all summer. Ranunculus are always something I snatch up if I see them- they are just too perfect....
Just when I get the inkling of getting bored, Mother Nature swoops in and changes the season- giving me a whole new crop (ha ha) of friends! Its like getting to fall in love over and over again. Me, fickle? Never!
