These are nasturtium "Milkmaid". I love them- they are crazy and wild and have just taken over this container in the herb garden. In the background you can see that our oak has already started to drop his leaves all over the garden path...sigh. There is chocolate mint & oregano & dill growing around the base as well.
More nasturtium in the perennial border- they have intertwined themselves with my toadstools that I bought here. I think they are so sweet and for some reason romantic- doesn't everyone think fungus is? I also think I need more. Always more.... There is also a little campanula in the back-ground, some geranium "Rozanne" and a little sedum "Black Jack" peeking about the picture.
One of my fall favorites- anemone "Honorine Jobert". Despite the bad reputation japanese anemones have for being terrible naturalizers that take over- I haven't had that problem. They start blooming now and continue to bloom until frost. One of my favorites- who am I kidding- I think I could say that about all of you- except for you, you stinky weeds! Grrrrr! Clover is my mortal enemy! And why do I seem to have better luck growing grass in my garden beds than in the lawn? I tell Jamie that I think its a sign that our entire yard should just be garden- I don't think I have quite convinced him yet (muh ha ha haaaa!) He has conceded to give me another goodly chunk for the shade garden next year though. (MUH HA HA HAAAA!)
